NEW YORK, October 30. /TASS/. The Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) convened for the third session of the day and began with a press conference conducted by the news agencies, TASS and ‘The Spectator’.
The transcript of the conversation between TASS, the delegate of Russia and the delegate of US is as follows:
__________________________________________________________________________________
TASS: My first question is to the delegate of Russia: Russia has always been powerful is voicing its stance on nuclear power. What is the status of nuclear power research and missile production in Russia, currently?
Delegate of Russia: The delegate of Russia would like to say that Russia has implemented arms control agreements and participated in threat reduction programs that have dismantled and downsized substantial harmful arsenals currently. The reason why we cannot completely reduce our tactical weapons is due to the inequality of the conventional arms between Russia and other countries. We are increasing our military strength, which is preserving a balance of power in the world.

TASS: Thank you. My next question is to the delegate of the United States. North Korea has been open to signing the NPT is ensured security by countries such as the US. What is the delegate’s opinion on this statement?
Delegate of the United States: I would like to say that in 1985, when North Korea had signed the NPT, they had agreed to sign. However, they had broken the NPT and hence even if they say that they will agree to the NPT, there’s no reason that they can’t break it again; there is no guarantee that they can’t go back on their word again.
